Securing consumer and customer data is a critical responsibility for every company that handles personal information and it is a top priority for our team. One important aspect of security is eliminating sensitive data once it is no longer needed. We built a three month data retention policy into LeadConduit for this very reason. This window provides enough time for our customers to run quarterly reports to share with their partners, process returns and conversions and track down specific issues or discrepancies that might arise with a particular lead. After three months, we eliminate Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from our systems and roll up aggregate statistics.

For most of our customers this is the ideal setup. Some of our larger customers on the other hand, have data retention policies that require a shorter window for storage of PII. We’ve accommodated those needs on a case-by-case basis to date, but as of today, we’re providing all of our LeadConduit customers the ability to reduce the length of time that we retain sensitive data.

A screenshot of the data retention screenIf you would like to reduce the time that we store PII, you will find a new “Settings” link in the LeadConduit menu. This will allow you to select from 3 months (the default), 2 months or one month. If you reduce the length of time, we will immediately and permanently delete leads that came in prior to the new time window. We won’t be able to recover them, so please be sure you’re comfortable with the change!
